Crossroads President & CEO Michelle Wilcox Recognized Among RI Monthly’s Outstanding Women

March 07, 2025

A widely recognized leader in homeless services and housing development, Michelle M. Wilcox currently serves as President and CEO of Crossroads Rhode Island, the state’s leading provider of housing and services for those experiencing homelessness.

Throughout her more than thirty years of dedicated service, Wilcox has committed herself to helping people end their homelessness by securing stable homes.

In response to the record number of people experiencing homelessness in Rhode Island, Wilcox is spearheading the development of 300 much-needed permanent supportive apartments in three different buildings to provide housing.

Housing, she explained, is the only proven solution for ending homelessness.

Under her leadership, construction of the Summer Street Apartments, a 176-unit apartment building for formerly homeless adults, is well underway and on track for completion this fall.

This spring, Crossroads will be breaking ground on nearby 371 Pine Street, a 35-unit health and housing apartment building for medically vulnerable adults experiencing homelessness. A complete renovation of Crossroads’ Travelers Aid Housing is also in the works and will add 81 additional one-bedroom and studio apartments in 2027.

In addition to housing, Crossroads also provides a range of supportive programs and services including housing problem solving, temporary emergency shelter, case management, basic needs, and education and employment programs designed to help people maintain their housing and rebuild their lives.
