Crossroads Rhode Island is the state's leading provider of housing and related services to those experiencing homelessness.

Founded in 1894 as the Travelers Aid Committee of the YWCA to help vulnerable women traveling to Providence for work, Crossroads has been serving those in need for more than 130 years.

Our mission has since evolved to help those experiencing homelessness secure stable homes.

Guided by best practices in person-centered, housing-focused supports, we help individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness secure and maintain safe, stable, permanent housing.

Our mission and values

Because every person's path to housing is different, our programs and services are tailored to meet the unique needs of everyone we serve, including:

  • Street outreach
  • Temporary emergency shelter
  • Rhode Island’s only 24/7 Community Room
  • Ownership and management of more than 410 units of permanent supportive housing statewide
  • Partnerships with local landlords to further expand access to safe and affordable housing
  • Education and employment training
  • Individualized case management
  • Connections to health, behavioral health, and other essential services
