As we look ahead to 2026, Crossroads Rhode Island remains focused on what we know works: housing. With homelessness continuing to challenge communities across our state and nation, expanding permanent supportive housing, strengthening partnerships, and advocating for proven solutions will remain at the center of our work.

In the past year, we reached a significant milestone with the completion of our Summer Street Apartments. It is the largest permanent supportive housing development in New England and nearly 200 formerly homeless adults now call Summer Street home.

Building on that momentum, construction is also underway on our Health & Housing Apartments, which are on track for completion later this year. This innovative facility will feature 35 permanent supportive apartments for medically vulnerable adults and co-located health and behavioral health services.

Additional efforts to expand Rhode Island’s affordable housing inventory include the redevelopment of our Travelers Aid Housing into 80+ permanent supportive apartments and our partnership on the 144-unit City Center Apartments in East Providence.

We will also continue to advocate strongly for sustained federal and local investment in housing, which is the only proven solution for ending homelessness. The year ahead requires urgency, collaboration, and continued commitment. With strong partnerships and sustained investment, we can help more Rhode Islanders secure stable homes and the support they need to remain housed.
