Profile: CVS Health

CVS Health has been a great supporter of Crossroads Rhode Island's mission to end homelessness in Rhode Island through volunteering and sponsoring!

As a company dedicated to helping people on their path to better health, CVS Health has provided significant funding for health related services at Crossroads Family Center, which provides emergency shelter and intensive, housing-focused case management for families experiencing homelessness.

This ongoing funding from CVS Health allows us to continue addressing health issues for adults and their children staying at the Family Center, such as connection to primary care, childhood immunizations, chronic diseases and treatment compliance, food security and mental health care. Having a stable home is a powerful health intervention for at risk children and their parents. When families find a home, their health risks decrease dramatically.

CVS Health has been a committed supporter of Crossroads for nearly two decades, providing grants, sponsorships, volunteers, and product donations to support our efforts.

The CVS Health Charity Classic benefits Southern New England non-profits, and, since its inception in 1999, has donated more than $20 million back to the community. "As a participating charity partner, Crossroads Rhode Island is one of the many organizations that benefit from this exciting event," says President Karen Santilli. "The area of biggest need for Crossroads is our shelter programs and our ability to stay open 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. The funding we receive through the CVS Charity Classic allows us to balance that portion of the budget. When people are homeless and they have nowhere to go and it's midnight, where are they going to go?"

Many of Crossroads' fundraising events have been generously sponsored by CVS Health. In April, CVS Health was an Award Sponsor of our annual Women Helping Women event, which benefits women in the Women's Shelter and other programs for women at Crossroads. At the event, they honored Nicole Green, Director of Strategic Alliance at CVS Health's MinuteClinic division.

CVS Health colleagues also volunteer at Crossroads working on a variety of projects. Two CVS Health senior leaders, Eileen Howard Boone (Senior Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility & Philanthropy) and Flossie Crisp (Vice President & Senior Legal Counsel) serve on the Crossroads board. In addition, teams of volunteers from CVS Health are part of service projects that help the clients of Crossroads.

Birthday cards designed by CVS Health volunteers

Recently, the Store Brands team spent a full day volunteering at 160 Broad Street where they generously donated supplies and assembled over 100 Welcome Home Kits, designed personalized birthday cards for children's upcoming birthdays and stocked and reorganized Crossroads' pantries. Additionally, a group of volunteers decorated the Family Center for Halloween and packed healthy snack bags for the families.

Thank you to our friends at CVS Health for all that you do to support our work and promote charitable giving in Southern New England!
