The Container Store’s new location launches with $16,000 donation to Crossroads Rhode Island

The Container Store debuted its 66th store opening in Cranston (Garden City Center) on Saturday, May 17th. As part of the retailer’s commitment to its local communities, The Container Store donated a percentage of its Grand Opening weekend sales to Crossroads Rhode Island, making a contribution totaling $16,000.

Margaret came to Crossroads in April 2007 at the age of 47. She told us that she was seeking shelter and safety after leaving her abusive partner. During her first year at Crossroads, we did not yet have a dedicated Women’s Shelter, so she slept on the floor of our Community Room. When the Women’s Shelter opened in April 2008, Margaret finally had a bed, but it would be another five years until she had a home of her own.
