Program Coordinator - Vocational Services
Location - Providence
The Program Coordinator works as part of a team to coordinate the organizations’ Intensive Pre-Employment Program. The overall goal of the program is to provide homeless and/or low-income, low-skilled clients with pre-employment skills-building learning opportunities to help them succeed in job training, enter the workforce and/or access mainstream employment services. The program is delivered one on one with clients as well as in a classroom setting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Recruits appropriate clients and conducts thorough assessment to develop an individual education/employment plan. Develops strong relationships with current and future referral sources to ensure appropriate referrals and maintain positive program reputation. Develops and delivers mini workshops related to job readiness (i.e. resume writing, interviewing skills, basic computer skills etc). Curriculum development for ten week training program that focuses on life skills, workforce development and adult education. Continual assessment of students from recruitment throughout program. Regular communication with referral sources and others as appropriate as it relates to students progress. Engages with local employers to learn their staffing needs and challenges. Maintains proper, updated, student records.
  • Experience and Education: At least 2 years experience in workforce development and adult education required. Case management experience helpful. BA or equivalent required, a degree in human services or adult education is strongly preferred. At least 1 years experience working with homeless or disconnected populations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to take initiative and assume increased responsibility in managing and developing the program. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills required. Exceptional assessment and motivational skills. Able to quickly and easily build rapport with clients. Must be computer-literate with competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and web applications. Highly organized and able to handle rapidly changing priorities. Works effectively independently as well as a member of a team. Some local travel required for the position. Outgoing, able to establish and maintain relationships with participants, employers, case management staff etc. This position has been funded for only one (1) year.


Housing Clerk – Adult Housing Department
Location - Providence
Full time, days. The Housing Clerk provides experienced clerical support to assist Leasing Agents and general department clerical duties. File maintenance, data entry and general information support are provided by the Housing Clerk. The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse populations in a non-profit and/or affordable housing organization.

Duties and Responsibilities: Advocates for the mission of the organization and promotes the vision and direction of the agency’s values. Provides clerical support to Leasing Agents. Answers telephone calls and requests for general information. Provides data entry and typing support. Provides filing and maintenance support. Assists department staff with general office duties. Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education: Minimum GED. Experience in computer and administrative support. Experience working effectively with diverse populations. Experience working in a non-profit and/or affordable housing office desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good oral and written communication skills. Attention to detail required. Well organized. Accuracy for all reports, data and information. Ability to support multiple people. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Knowledge of RI affordable housing programs preferred.


Business Development Representative
Crossroads Copy Center

Location - Providence
As part of the Copy Center team, supports the mission of Crossroads through print service business development. Develop new prospects and interacts with existing customers to increase sales of The Copy Center at Crossroads products and services. Meet and exceed established short and long-term sales goals. Prepare action plans, schedules and reports to identify specific targets. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Assist in developing and marketing materials for sales promotions and bring products and services to life. Serve as a liaison between the staff and the client. Business Developer must be able to acquire knowledge in offset and digital printing to make recommendations of products and services to improve customer satisfaction and increase sales potential. The candidate provides telephone and on-site support to customers, building a strong relationship to encourage longevity. Advocates for the mission of Crossroads and promotes the culture and vision of the agency’s values.
Duties and Responsibilities: Generate new accounts. Call on and encourage increased sales of existing accounts. Gather complete information regarding project and assist in quote process. Maintain customer contact via e-mail (create PDF files), fax, phone calls and site-visits. Ability to meet timelines and keep customers current on job activity. Develop and maintain an awareness of customer’s business environment, be customer-focused and resolve customer service issues professionally.
Experience and Education: Associates degree required, Bachelor's preferred. Business Development and Sales Experience required. Print Industry experience preferred. A proven track record in building revenue. Maintain a valid driver license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Able to acquire knowledge in offset and digital printing. Be creative, innovative and able to work in a highly entrepreneurial, fast paced culture based on teamwork. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. High level computation math skills. Expert level of MS Office skills.


Shelter Staff Assistant
Adult Services, Women’s Shelter

Location - Providence
This position assists case managers with daily shelter operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure clients are complying with program guidelines and procedures. Delivers services with safety, respect and effectiveness. Assess client needs and offer assistance in every manner practical. Monitors client behavior. Review policy & guidelines with clients at time of entrance. Prepares rooms for clients. Facilitates sleeping arrangements and storage of personal items. Anticipates, diffuses and manages conflict between clients. Maintains order and assists in keeping all assigned areas clean and free of spills, trash and safety hazards. Assist in room cleanings and house laundry. Completes all agency logs and incident reports in a timely manner. Provides immediate and professional response to any security /safety emergency or disturbance within or immediately outside facility.
Experience and Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required; Associates degree in related field preferred.1-2 years experience in Human Services or related field preferred. Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bi-Lingual in Spanish a plus. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to work well on a team. Must work well under pressure and excellent customer service skills. Committed to working with the homeless and disconnected population in an empathetic and caring way. Must be flexible. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work environment. Requires verbal and numerical intelligence and basic computer knowledge. Ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner.


Housing Case Advocate
Location - Providence
Full-time. Typically Monday through Friday; will include regularly scheduled evenings and occasional Saturday hours. The RI Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program is a newly funded program which will provide homeless individuals and families intensive home-based case management focused on permanent housing stability, housing relocation services, landlord/tenant education and financial assistance.
  • Performs intakes and assesses a household’s housing stability and retention barriers.
  • Creates a written and signed house case plan and determining the level of financial assistance and assisting a client to apply for benefits.
  • Helps to place clients in permanent housing, making home visits and assisting households with budgeting, financial literacy, acquiring mainstream services and understanding landlord/tenant agreements.
  • Provides mediation to resolve landlord/tenant disputes and maintains reports and database information.
The successful candidate has the ability to work with homeless and marginalized populations, has a Bachelors Degree in social work or equivalent experience, the necessary computer skills, effective communication skills, a valid drivers license and the willingness to travel to the client’s residence. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.


Facilities Janitor
Location - Providence
Full-time days, Wednesday-Monday, 7-3:30 PM. Crossroads' Facilities Department is looking for a janitor with a minimum of 1 year cleaning experience. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience working with a diverse population and must support the mission of Crossroads.

Adult Education Instructor-Vocational Services
Location - Providence
Full time, days. The Adult Education Instructor provides instruction in remedial math, reading and language skills for low – skilled learners planning to enter vocational training programs.

Duties and Responsibilities: Provides instruction / academic coaching to ABE or GED preparation learners. Conducts testing to assess student’s educational functioning level and progress. Assists with development of student goals and continual evaluation of progress toward improvement. Provides information required for reporting on student attendance, progress, needs and achievement. Works with other Vocational Services staff to ensure learner persistence and success.

Experience and Education: 2 years adult education, GED or ABE experience required. Experience with RIDE funded program preferred. Bachelors degree in education or related field required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates experience with personalized learning. Self starter able to work independently and proactively. Committed to working with disadvantaged populations.


Adult Education Program Assistant-Vocational Services
Location - Providence
Part time, days. The Adult Education Program Assistant is responsible for the intake, assessment and goal setting of the clients in the program.

Duties and Responsibilities: Follow up with students who have separated from the program. Student satisfaction survey. Maintains waiting list and handles all program inquiries. Data collection, entry and reporting using CALIS. Assist instructors with copying, correcting etc. Back up to instructors in learning center and possibly other training programs.

Experience and Education:At least 1 year experience working with disconnected populations with demonstrated experience in intake, assessment and goal setting Exceptional organizational skills Computer skills that include Word, Excel, Web applications and email .Experience in an adult education setting preferred but not required. Associates degree in human service, education or related field; combination of training and experience may be substituted.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Self starter able to work independently and proactively. Commitment to working with disadvantaged populations. Position is funded for a minimum of six (6) months.


Education Director/Consultant –Vocational Services
Location - Providence/North Kingstown
Part time Contract Position, 20 hours per week, which includes 5 hours/week to clients at North Kingstown facility. The Education Director/Consultant is a responsible for program development and direct service to clients in the organizations adult education program.

Duties and Responsibilities:Program development responsibilities include development RIDE specific policies and procedures. Recommend systems for compliance with RIDE expectations. Develop outreach plan to engage Crossroads clients with systems to ensure RIDE compliance and success. Evaluate programming at NK facility and recommend program design. Direct Service responsibilities include personalized instruction with students. Perform intake, assessment and goal planning with students to develop individualized education plan. Update current students individualized goal plan. Conduct assessments using CASAS for pre and post testing .Provide 5 hours of direct service/week to clients at North Kingstown facility.

Experience and Education:Bachelor’s degree in education required. Master’s degree preferred. Five (5) years adult education experience in RIDE funded program required, with 1 year that includes program management responsibilities. Familiarity with CASAS testing requirements .At least one year experience conducting education assessments and goal planning with students .

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Highly organized and detail oriented. Self starter able to work independently and proactively. Commitment to working with disadvantaged populations. Position is for eight (8) weeks.


Mental Health Clinician, Adult Services
Location - Providence
Part time employee or consultant. Provide individual and group counseling to chronically homeless clients who have histories of trauma and severe mental illness, in order to improve adaptive coping skills and self-sufficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:Provides individual and group counseling, using evidence-based clinical practices, to chronically homeless clients who have histories of trauma and severe mental illness. Conducts psychosocial assessment of clients. Develops and implements individual treatment plans with clients, specifying type, frequency, intensity, and duration of services. Coordinates care with Case Advocates to ensure continuity and consistency of clinical approach. Provides crisis assessment and intervention as necessary. Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and adjusts plans as necessary. Refers clients to other providers, institutions, or supportive services as necessary. Completes required documentation in a timely manner.

Experience and Education:Master’s Degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling, or doctoral degree in Psychology required. Independent licensure required (LICSW, LMHC, or licensed Clinical Psychologist). At least 3 years’ clinical experience required. Experience with individuals with severe mental illness and survivors of trauma strongly preferred. Previous experience with homeless individuals preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: : Excellent assessment skills, including bio-psychosocial assessment and diagnostic skills (DSM-IV). Knowledge of trauma-informed mental health intervention required. Experience working with clients with severe mental illness.Ability to calmly assess and respond to crisis situations. Ability to work well with colleagues and paraprofessional staff, as well as clients. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.

1 Part-time position: Sunday and Monday: 7am-3pm
1 Part-time position: Friday and Saturday 3:00pm-11pm
Oversees and provides a safe environment for Crossroad’s diverse population as well as apartment style properties for Crossroads. Conducts foot patrols, serves as liaison to police and fire departments, responds to safety and security emergencies as needed and maintain logs and reports. Experienced candidates only. Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
