Mental Health Clinician, Adult Services
Location - Providence
Part time employee or consultant. Provide individual and group counseling to chronically homeless clients who have histories of trauma and severe mental illness, in order to improve adaptive coping skills and self-sufficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:Provides individual and group counseling, using evidence-based clinical practices, to chronically homeless clients who have histories of trauma and severe mental illness. Conducts psychosocial assessment of clients. Develops and implements individual treatment plans with clients, specifying type, frequency, intensity, and duration of services. Coordinates care with Case Advocates to ensure continuity and consistency of clinical approach. Provides crisis assessment and intervention as necessary. Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and adjusts plans as necessary. Refers clients to other providers, institutions, or supportive services as necessary. Completes required documentation in a timely manner.

Experience and Education:Master’s Degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling, or doctoral degree in Psychology required. Independent licensure required (LICSW, LMHC, or licensed Clinical Psychologist). At least 3 years’ clinical experience required. Experience with individuals with severe mental illness and survivors of trauma strongly preferred. Previous experience with homeless individuals preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: : Excellent assessment skills, including bio-psychosocial assessment and diagnostic skills (DSM-IV). Knowledge of trauma-informed mental health intervention required. Experience working with clients with severe mental illness.Ability to calmly assess and respond to crisis situations. Ability to work well with colleagues and paraprofessional staff, as well as clients. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.

alued but not required skills:Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus. Willingness and ability to supervise student interns.


Safety Officer Part Time (2 Positions)
Location - Providence
This position helps to provide a safe environment for Crossroads employees, clients, residents and guests.
1 Part-time position: Sunday and Monday: 7am-3pm
1 Part-time position: Friday and Saturday 3:00pm-11pm
Oversees and provides a safe environment for Crossroad’s diverse population as well as apartment style properties for Crossroads. Conducts foot patrols, serves as liaison to police and fire departments, responds to safety and security emergencies as needed and maintain logs and reports. Experienced candidates only. Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


Bilingual Case Advocate
Location - Providence
Full-time. 12 noon-9 PM, Wednesday-Friday and Sunday. Advocates, encourages and empowers clients that are homeless and disconnected. Acts as part of a team to provide case management in the provision of a continuum of care for the basic needs of clients.

Duties and Responsibilities: Conducts intakes and assessments with new clients and provides crises intervention as necessary. Assists clients in obtaining basic needs such as shelter, food and clothing. Establishes supportive relationships with clients and collaborates with them to develop service plans and goals, monitors progress and guides them though successive phases of their case plan. Works with external agencies to obtain client services. Provides documentation of client progress, maintains reports and inputs data into to HMIS database in a timely manner. Coordinates responsibilities and provides direction to Advocate Support Providers.

Experience and Education: Must have degree in a human service area, certification or license. A minimum of 2 years experience with social service programs in case management or advocacy, preferably in a non-profit agency is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Sensitive to people experiencing crisis and understands availability of services for more intense case management. Committed to working with disadvantaged populations. Must be a team player, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment; empathetic and caring; effective communication and conflict management skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; computer experience with databases and Microsoft word. Bilingual English/Spanish required.


Advocate Support Provider
Location - Providence
Flexibility required for first and second shift and some weekends. Floater position, may occasionally work at other locations. Works with and assists Case Advocates in a team approach to coordinate the continuum of care for the basic needs of clients and help to address crises situations as well as assist in the daily operations of the agency.

Duties and Responsibilities: Assists clients in obtaining basic needs to address crisis situation. Assists in obtaining food, shelter and clothing, etc. Provides immediate response to safety/security emergencies. Completes paperwork and supports Case Advocates in case management needs.

Experience and Education: Minimum high school degree or GED required. Associates Degree, human services certificate or internship rotation desired. Experience working with a similar population in the area of human services or social services required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Committed to working with a diverse homeless and disconnected population. Must be a team player with the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment; empathetic and caring; ability to maintain confidentiality. Effective communication, customer service and conflict management skills are required. Computer experience with databases and Microsoft word necessary. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.


Certified Nursing Assistant Program Coordinator- Vocational Services
Location - Providence
Full or Part-time, M-F days. Since 1998 Crossroads has operated a highly successful CNA training program and we are looking for a Program Coordinator to continue that tradition of excellence. The Program Coordinator is responsible for the development and delivery of both classroom and clinical training for nursing assistant students as well as supervision of staff involved with the program.

Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinates the program curriculum and policies in accordance with state rules and guidelines. Leads both the classroom and clinical instruction while overseeing other clinical staff that may include paid staff, per diem staff and volunteers. Oversees the work of program staff to ensure appropriate class composition and quality of job readiness, development, placement and retention services. Maintains records, schedules and course requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: A commitment to working with the homeless population, current RN license and at least 2 years of nursing experience, one of which must be in long term care, is required. Documented evidence of teaching and/or appropriate supervisory experience. Must be able to travel locally. Computer literate in Microsoft applications, e-mail and internet. Problem-solver, great communicator and team builder.

Maintenance Technician-Facilities
Location - Providence
Full time, 7am-3:30 PM, Saturday through Wednesday. Responsible for general maintenance and providing a safe and clean work environment. Provides timely completion of housing unit turnovers, work order repairs and property preservation are important duties for this position. Facilitates minor repairs, installations and property maintenance. The candidate will be experienced in general maintenance and have basic knowledge of electrical, painting, plumbing, painting and carpentry. Experience working within a well organized team and independently under stressful conditions is desired.

Certified Nursing Substitute Teachers- Vocational Services
Location - Providence
M-F days as needed. The CNA training instructor provides classroom and clinical training for nursing assistant students. Education and Employment Case Manager-Vocational Services
Location - Providence
Full-time, M-F days. Works with homeless clients and the disadvantaged population to assist them in setting goals for education and vocational service programs/training as well as employment offerings.

Duties and Responsibilities: Conducts intakes and assessments and provides coaching and direction to clients regarding training, education and employment. Helps develop goal plans and tracking methods. Maintains waiting list and handles all program inquiries. Follows up with students who have separated from the program. Conducts student satisfaction surveys. Maintains reports, data base information and does research as required. Data collection, entry and reporting using CALIS. Assists instructors with copying, correcting etc. Back up to instructors in learning center and possibly other training programs. Coordinates volunteers and tutors for all vocational services programs. Works with other community agencies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Evidence of at least 1 year experience working with disconnected populations with demonstrated experience in intake, assessment and goal setting. Associates degree in human service, education or related field; combination of training and experience may be substituted. The ideal candidate will have a background in case management and education/employment training. Computer skills that include Word, Excel, Web applications and email. Experience in an adult education setting preferred but not required. Knowledge of programs such as ESL, basic literacy and job development helpful. Self starter able to work independently and proactively. Commitment to working with disadvantaged populations. Must possess excellent communication and be extremely organized. Team player.


Program Data and Evaluation Coordinator
Location - Providence
Full-time, M-F days. The Coordinator supports data collection and program evaluation efforts for Crossroads Rhode Island. Assists in assuring agency wide compliance with the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and other grant requirements related to data collection.

Duties and Responsibilities

Analyzes data, prepares and submits reports on program operation and grants and presents data in the best format for a variety of stakeholders including funders, the public, business entities, and internal staff in a way that relates to Crossroads’ program operations, collection of client level data and progress reporting. Participates in the Data and Evaluation Committee, and the HMIS Steering Committee. Provides HMIS technical assistance and support to individual users on an as-needed. Drafts new and renewal grant applications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree required. Experience manipulating data from a Management Information System or database. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required. Experience/understanding of non profit, social services or public administration preferred. Direct experience working with social service data management software such as SPSS and with grants administration and/or grant writing preferred. Must be an effective communicator and a self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a team.
