The Women's Shelter at Crossroads
Imagine, if you can, not knowing where you’ll sleep tonight….or at least hoping that you’ll get one of the comfortable cots at the shelter, that you won’t have to sleep on a mat in the hallway. And imagine further, that when you wake, you’ll have to pack all your possessions and go back outside into the bitter cold. This is the reality for hundreds of women in Rhode Island right at this moment.

These women come from many walks of life and all age groups. Some have jobs and education, some do not. None of them want to be homeless. None of them asked for this to happen. Rising gasoline and heating costs, housing foreclosures, rising unemployment…together these factors make it so difficult for low-income women to get back on their feet.

But they all have one thing in common. They have hope. Hope for their future. Hope that things will get better. If only they could get a little bit of help. That is where Crossroads Rhode Island comes in.
