In-Kind Donations

Thank you for thinking of Crossroads Rhode Island for your in-kind donations! Please be aware that due to limited space, we are unable to store donated items for long periods of time. As a result, we only accept items that are new and can be used by our clients right away.

Current In-Kind Donation Needs

Welcome Home Kits

Last year, we helped 693 households made up of over 1,200 men, women, and children move into or maintain stable homes. Each family and individual that we help move into housing receives a "Welcome Home Kit" a laundry basket filled with all of the essentials that they will need to help turn their new apartment into a home.

Most of the items in the Welcome Home Kits are donated by our generous sponsors and donors. Welcome Home Kits vary based on the needs of the household, but the items that we commonly include are:

  • Dishes
  • Cleaning supplies (window cleaner, disinfectants, rags, broom)
  • Laundry supplies (detergent, fabric softener)
  • Paper towels
  • Toilet paper
  • Shower curtains
  • Towels
  • Kids' pajamas
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Dish soap
  • Sponges
  • Shampoo
  • Pillows
  • Utensils

Contributing even just a few of these items will go a long way to helping someone settle into their new home. If you would like to donate items for a Welcome Home Kit, please see the Donation Information below for drop-off instructions. You can also make a monetary donation online, and designate your gift for Welcome Home Kit supplies.

Crossroads Rhode Island has partnered with Vehicles For Charity to accept vehicle donations.

Almost any vehicle (including cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles, and recreational vehicles) is accepted. Vehicles do not have to be currently running. Donated vehicles will be sold at an auction or to salvage depending on condition, with proceeds from the sale benefiting Crossroads.

For more information, call Vehicles for Charity at (866) 628-2277, and they will answer any other questions you may have and make arrangements to pick up your donation. You may also fill out their online donation form to begin the process. Please note that Crossroads Rhode Island doesn't handle these donations directly.
