Pre-Employment Program

"Get Hired!", Crossroads Rhode Island's Intensive Pre-employment Program, provides an on-ramp for adults to join the workforce, prepare for vocational job training or enter adult education services.

Employment is key to moving out of homelessness. Crossroads provides the support for adults to re-enter the workforce.

This program helps the graduates of our training programs acquire new and marketable skills as they begin their search for employment. It is effective because it includes 10 weeks of classroom instruction, small group projects and out of class assignments.  Topic areas include:

• Self Awareness:  Identifying interests, strengths and weaknesses
• Goals, mission and motivation:  Setting "SMART" goals, creating personal mission statement
• Emotional Intelligence--Listening, hearing, responding, getting along with co-workers
• Job readiness assessments
• Stress management
• Budgeting and financial empowerment
• Networking
• Writing cover letters and creating an effective resume
• Interviewing skills and ways to address difficult questions 
• Negotiating with co-workers and supervisors
• Computer basics and technology skills
• Job search and online profiles
